For sale here is an inseparable lot of four 2009 Apple MacBook Pro laptop computers, all in working but incomplete condition.
Three of the laptops are the A1297 17” model, and the fourth is the A1286 15” model.
I’ve also included some odds and ends to sweeten the deal.
The successful and satisfied buyer should make the following assumptions:
1) All four computers ARE functional
2) All four computers need new batteries (some have batteries that may or may not work, but need replacing)
3) All four computers need power adaptors (though I’ve included three USB-C to MagSafe adaptors that allow modern apple chargers to be used)
4) All four computers are missing optical drives or have optical drives that do not work (as if you needed one anyway)
5) All four computers have brand new Kingston SSD 120GB drives (a great upgrade for computers of this era)
6) All four computers are maxed out in their RAM capabilities (I believe 8GB for all of them, but that isn’t a promise)
7) All four computers do not have operating systems installed (OSX Mojave was the last one I used on these machines, and it took some extra steps)
8) All four computers have working keyboards and trackpads, functional video cards and no cracked screens or other impediments to operation
I have not tested all the ports, but the last time I used these machines everything I used (USB, Ethernet, 1/8” audio in/out) worked as expected.
All photos are of the actual machines (one of the model number, one from the top, one opened up, and one inside).
I won’t have the time to go through each computer with the meticulous buyer, so you’ll have to use some caution with a dose of trust.
MacBooks do not power up without a battery installed, so even using a power adapter will not allow them to run (and remember, they don’t have operating systems installed).
But if you know these computers, you know they are built like tanks and have less problems and more ports than just about all the models made after these.
The make excellent dedicated machines for servers, Linux/Unix, and home media, but are also great for the internet, typing up papers, etc.
With some added investment in new batteries and power adapters, you would have four perfectly good computers at your disposal.
