What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):
Master’s Degree in an education-related field OR Administrative Credential, required
Post Graduate study in Special Education
Five (5) years teaching experience in Special Education
One (1) year supervisory experience, required
Administration Credential preferred
California Special Education Teaching Credential, (preliminary level I) or California Learning handicapped/Severely Handicapped Credential or Professional Clear Level II, required
How you will make a difference (job overview):
The principal oversees the operation and management of the High School and is responsible for the school’s compliance with all state and local education regulations and the maintenance of state certification.
Coordinate student IEPs with the local school districts.
Assesses and places new students into the school program.
Supervises all school personnel to ensure the quality of the educational program, the maintenance of all school records (attendance, student files) in a confidential manner and reviews and approves all requests for copies of records from outside agencies and other schools, and work ability programs.
Approves the billing of local education agencies for services rendered.
Prepares and maintains the school budget and petty cash fund.
Provides educational in-service to school personnel.
Acts as liaison between the school and other departments in the facility.
Files the state certification packet and other documents required by law on a regular basis.
Designs curriculum to meet school district guidelines.
Creates and updates policies and procedures for the school program.
Implements a safe school environment, overseeing behavioral interventions and fire/disaster/safety drills and inspections.
Assists facility staff with crisis intervention, including physical containment, escort, and restraint/seclusion of students as the need arises.
Coordinates program integration with Clinical Director and Residential Manager and LEA (TUSD) services including vision/hearing screenings, ESL evaluations.
Serves as site supervisor of teaching staff interns in cooperation with local graduate program.
Represents SBHS/SBHG with CAPSES and/or Alliance.
Responsible for all reviews including CDE and WASC including supervising with WASC Coordinator all WASC related activities including serving on Visiting committees.
Maintains working relationship with the SELPA and other area NPS.
Coordinates intake and discharges with Clinical Director.
Prepares CSW reports.
Tracks attendance; collaborates with CTF and PHF management and staff to maximize school attendance; actively supports efforts to get students to school in the morning.
Tracks attendance through School Secretary.
Audits student progress: academic and behavioral.

Intensive residential services dedicated to serving clients with serious mental health problems with the highest dignity and quality of services since 1988
Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility, Community Treatment Facility and Non-Public High School – 24/7 locked facility
Multidisciplinary Mental Health Services, Therapeutic Behavioral Health Services, and Intensive Day Treatment Program
