An exciting opportunity to join our Mainfreight Transport in Los Angeles Team has recently become available.
This Hostler role is extremely important to the overall success of our branch and we are looking for the right person that is self-motivated, extremely efficient, and reliable to fill this position.
*Responsibilities*
* Primarily move trailers and other equipment throughout our yard and nearby warehouses
* Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift
* Responsible for the daily inspection of trailers, including safety check
* Responsible for completing daily yard check and always maintaining the accuracy of the yard
* Chocking trailers as they are spotted for loading and unloading and pulling from doors, the placement of nose supports for 28ft trailers when spotted at dock doors
* Operate a yard truck in all types of weather; safely walk and stand for extended periods of time
* Work in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to company safety policies
* Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
* Assist with warehouse duties
*Qualifications*
* To be at least 25 years of age
* A valid CDL
* A safe driving record and recent DMV printouts
* Availability to work swing shift
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
* Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
* Minimum of 30 months experience working in a full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving position in the previous 3 years.
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs
*It’d be great if you also have:*
* Dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry
* Forklift experience in a freight/less-than-truckload environment
* Experience loading and unloading trailers
* Basic written and verbal communication skills
