This position functions as a driver for the Eco-Tour Department, performing ecological tours of the interior land owned by the Conservancy.
What’s Required:
The Conservancy roadways in the interior of the island are somewhat difficult to negotiate as well as very steep and rocky in a number of areas.
As such, this position must be fully capable of operating the tour vehicle in a safe and practical manner.
This position requires extensive knowledge of the Island’s ecology, natural history and the Conservancy’s mission and goals and the ability to deliver commentary while driving.
Extensive training in these areas, including Conservancy Naturalist Training Levels 1 & 2, will be provided and employee is expected to be able to demonstrate knowledge of materials learned after training is completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must properly perform a variety of routine daily vehicle inspections (DVIR), document pre & post trip inspections, as well as passenger counts.
Ensure assigned vehicles are clean and ready to provide a safe and pleasant tour experience.
Engage guests in a manner that creates a hospitable, comfortable and satisfying adventure and discovery experience.
Possess a solid and complete understanding of Catalina’s ecology.

Qualifications:
A successful candidate will come to us with:
• Valid Driver License with a clean driving record
• Ability to obtain passenger endorsement within 90 days of employment
• Ability to obtain valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Exemplary customer service skills
