School Bus Driver Trainee

School Bus Driver Trainee P/T *(We will train you!)* *Valley Christian Schools is hiring bus driver trainees!* Bus driver trainees will be trained to earn a Class B Commercial License to drive a school bus.
Upon completion of training, our bus drivers pick students up in the morning, bring them home after school, and drive students to school sponsored events.

*We will train you!* Under the direction of the Maintenance and Transportation Manager, the School Bus Driver/ Van Driver operates school buses on regularly scheduled passenger routes transporting pupils and school groups to and from school to other events, and on special field trips.
Drivers are required to perform a variety of non-bus driving duties, including performing safety checks of vehicles and equipment, and maintaining a daily log, as assigned.
*Responsibilities Include:* · Drive a bus or van for any designated route according to an established time schedule; pick-up and discharge pupils at designated stops; assist students crossing streets as necessary.
· Transport students and teachers on special educational field trips and to athletic events as directed.
· Perform daily check of bus and safety equipment; clean and fuel bus if necessary; report mechanical difficulties to appropriate staff.
· Maintain daily records of mileage, student count, driving time and non-driving time; prepare monthly reports.
· Supervise student behavior on bus according to established policies and procedures.
· Attend in-service training and other meetings as directed.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
*ABILITY TO:* Complete training to drive a school bus safely.
*(WE WILL TRAIN YOU!)* Ability to pass all DOT/CHP requirements to become a School Bus Driver (i.
e.
drug screens, physical, etc.
) Perform a job that requires sitting and driving all day.
Maintain order among students while on a bus.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Adapt to interruptions and changes in the daily routine.
Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Exhibit Christian character and behavior in all interactions with students and adults *EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:* A minimum of a Class C driver's license and a safe driving record.
Minimum of 5 years as a licensed driver (including driving personal vehicle is okay) 1+ years experience driving regularly for work (i.
e.
bus, taxi, delivery service, truck, shuttle, etc) *LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:* *Avalibility and ability to complete trainining in a timely manner (4-6 weeks) to receive Class B License with Airbrakes, School Bus, and Passenger Endorsement.
* *To be considered, you must possess a minimum of a Class C driver's license with a safe driving record for the past 5 years and be willing to train for required endorsements.
* Candidates should have experience driving regularly (i.
e.
bus, taxi, delivery services, truck, etc.
