Position Description: If you love working with elementary school age children, the YMCA may have the perfect opportunity for you! Throughout the community, the YMCA operates before and after school programs for kids on several elementary and middle school campuses.
We are looking for individuals who relate well to children and who can make a real impact in their lives.
Each day, our child care team members assist children with homework, lead children in sports and recreational activities, engage children in enrichment and STEAM projects and help children thrive.
At the Y, we provide a safe and quality after school program experience for all youth, that focuses on building achievement, belonging and strong relationships in youth.
Benefits
Part-time positions, approximately 18-25 hours per week.
Additional hours may be available during school breaks when the YMCA is operating a day camp (such as summer day camp).
In addition to regular work shift, there are trainings, special events and professional development sessions that take place during the year.
All trainings are paid.
Before school shifts are typically between 7:00am and 9:00am
After school shifts are typically between 12:30pm and 6:00pm (some after school shifts may begin as early as 12:00pm/1:00pm for certain school districts and early dismissal days).
Interested candidates may apply for before school shifts, after schools shifts or both; if you are invited for an interview, please let us know which shifts you are interested in and available for.
Candidates who can work Monday through Friday are strongly preferred.

Qualifications
Must be 18 years-old or older.
High school diploma or equivalent
Proof of vaccination or immunization to pertussis/whooping cough and measles (TDAP), or willing to complete within 7 days of hire.
Current TB Test and Health Screening (upon hire, all new employees have access to complete a free TB test and health screening through our medical partners, Concentra).
Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as required by local school districts.
Hourly Salary
$17.
53/Hour; up to $17.
53 per hour for candidates with 6 months or more of paid experience working with children and for candidates with completed/relevant college coursework.
$16.
78/Hour, for hired candidates with no paid experience working with children and/or with less than 12 qualifying units*.
Upon hire, the YMCA provides all youth development staff with paid trainings throughout the year in the following areas: child abuse prevention, mandated reporting, positive discipline and child guidance, supervision and safety, risk management, programming, active shooter, diversity & inclusion, anti-bullying, communication and child development.
